Pied Piper, WI pageant 1935

Primrose Roberts on her white (washed!) pony with her squire Edmund Pearson. She recalls “Miss Hands organised the brass plaque to the fallen in the church after the first war. I remember her so well as the Pied Piper of Hamelin in a village fair and the scores of young boys dressed up as rats. She was superb. I was the Lady from Banbury Cross on a roan pony covered in whitewash, poor thing - I was 10! My squire in the photograph was Edmund Pearson."
